EFP Laboratory Manager, Andrew Klasek, will be presenting at the forum this year! Don’t miss out hearing EFP’s sustainable findings on practical changes operations can implement in their Cold Chain Packaging to reduce their company’s Carbon Footprint.

Cold Chain Packaging has become a complex and highly engineered field in the last ten years. As a result, the packaging of temperature-controlled pharmaceuticals has significantly increased the Carbon Footprint of the pharmaceutical industry, making it one of the largest greenhouse gas-emitting sectors. As companies review their Scope 3 emissions, the Carbon Footprint of pharmaceutical shipping operations is becoming more critical. Practical strategies and reviews have been developed but have yet to be widely adopted.

In his presentation, Andrew will explore practical changes that operations can make to their Cold Chain Packaging to reduce their Carbon Footprint. These changes include the use of gel pack materials, refrigerant packaging, incorporation of recycled content, assessment of the carbon footprint’s impact on risk evaluations, the sustainability of returnable systems, and the Carbon sequestration potential of plant-based insulations available in the industry today.
