(October 2024) ELKHART, IN – EFP (Engineered Foam Packaging), a leader in the design and manufacturing of custom protective packaging and cold chain solutions, offers a helping hand in the wake of Hurricane Helene. North Carolina has faced significant challenges but has shown remarkable resilience due to this catastrophic event. The storm, which struck in late September, caused widespread flooding and damage, particularly in the western parts of the state. Communities have been working tirelessly to rebuild homes, restore infrastructure, and support those affected by the disaster.
Impact and Recovery Efforts
The devastation from Hurricane Helene has been profound. Many areas experienced unprecedented flooding, leading to the destruction of homes, businesses, and critical infrastructure. This destruction left it difficult for first responders to tend to the people in need resulting in having to use pack mules to carry medical and food supplies to the families in hard-to-reach areas. EFP has extended their helping hand to the sister state of their South Carolina facility by shipping out truckloads of Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) coolers to the affected areas for first responders to utilize when herding pack mules to these destruction zones. Local organizations and volunteers have been pivotal in providing immediate relief and long-term support.
A Community United
The response to Hurricane Helene has highlighted the strength and unity of North Carolina’s communities. From local volunteers to national organizations, the collective effort to support those in need has been inspiring. “We are proud to support the sister state of our newest EFP facility by donating our foam coolers to facilitate the efficient transfer of medical and food supplies to those in need of timely care. EFP is committed to providing support to our surrounding communities when challenges arise,” says Jerry Faux, EFP’s Operations Manager at their Elkhart facility. As the state continues to recover, the resilience and determination of its people serve as a testament to their enduring spirit.
